Multiple authors issue with Kobo Arc

When I upload an epub file into the internal storage of my Arc and the metadata file indicates more than one author, the Arc displays the second name instead of the primary name (the first one). Do I need to use Calibre with metadata plugboard to place the authors in correct order or what? I could simply remove the second (and sometimes a third) author from the metadata in order to force the Arc to see only the one primary author? But this is defeating the intent of the library management principle.

Any suggestion on how to correct this or point out whether I am doing something wrong?
