azw conversion

I am new to the forum so hope this is the correct way to ask about my problem. I have used calibre for quite a long time now since I bought a Kobo. I have recently bought a new selection of books that I can read on my ipad but wish to put them on my kobo for when I go away. I get the usual successfully de-drmed the book but when I come to send it to my devise after converting it says it is not been de drmed. Can anyone suggest what I should do please pat123
