Bennet, Robert Ames: Thyra: A Romance of the Polar Pit. V1. 24 December 2012
I have added this book, which is thoroughly entertaining by the way, to bring my total submissions to 50 before Christmas.
The Hollow Earth theory, which postulated openings at the poles, (with the light streaming out to cause the auroras) had widespread interest in the late 19th Century and into the early 2oth, and still has one or two adherents. In this novel a team of explorers enter the hollow earth through the polar opening, and fight monsters and evil baddies. as well as saving the title character, Thyra.
The text is from Gutenberg, with a number of errors fixed, and a cover created.
