Told to reopen bug ticket if someone else was interested, but...
I don't see how anyone else will even know about it if it's already been closed
as Wont Fix. Anyone have any clues?

How will they know? They will want that feature and be willing to write the code for it. The existence of an open bug report is not going to magically make such a person appear.
