Can you suggest the best ones? I have no experience with Vonnegut.

Slapstick is the first Vonnegut I ever read and I really enjoyed it. It's the first book to ever make me actually laugh out loud while reading.

I also liked Timequake.

I hated Timequake and I have to say, please don't start with that one! It was his last book, I think, and in the book he talks openly about having no more inspiration and he had to write the book because he was on contract for it.

Unfortunately, I am not much help on a recommendation because I would really like to recommend Slaughterhouse Five, which is not on the list!

It's a little different from his others, but Bluebeard is a great story. Piano Player is his first novel and worth a read.

Welcome to the Monkey House. Some really good and memorable stories in that. I don't usually like short stories that much but some of his are really good and unique.

After that I tend towards the older stuff, so I'd probably get Mother Night, Player Piano, and God Bless You Mr. Rosewater.

I'm not sure what it says about my taste but I didn't really like Slaughterhouse Five and it's alien aspects. I really loved Hocus Pocus, though, and it has restored my interest in Mr. V.
