Hi bolimc and welcome to the Forum. Have you checked out the Fictionwise site (http://www.fictionwise.com)? They carry books in the Sony Format. I have a 505 and have bought books from them

I'm trying to decide between the Sony Reader and Amazon's Kindle. Is the Kindle worth a great deal more money? Same number of books available for both?

Thanks for your advice!

Ok, can of worms opened.

First, welcome to the form.

Second... The price difference isn't really that great. Less than $100 or so. And, if you only bought books from the Sony store or the Kindle store you will quickly recover that money, especially if you like best sellers.

That said "worth" is really subjective in this case. This topic exists in many threads in the "Which should I buy" forum. I suggest you visit there... and people can friendly welcome you here.

Hi, Gabriella. The answer would depend on if you were talking to a Sony person or a Kindle person. Each has different strengths, and weaknesses.

I like the built in dictionary, wireless downloads and all around feel of the Kindle.

I love the superior customer service, and all around ease of learning it. I don't care about the audible books/music part, since I never listen to books or music, while I'm reading. However, lots of others do.

Just remember.........you can have a 'hands on' experience with a Sony, thru Target and other outlets, and with a Kindle, you have a 30 day money back guarantee........no questions asked, just pay return shipping, around $10.

Good luck with your choice, and check out all the free books available here and at other sites.

Hi Garbriella and welcome to the Forum. Sound advice there from desertgrandma. I've had a Sony 505 for a year now and like it a lot. But have also had my hands on a Kindle and like that as well.
