My husband has taken over my Kindle!

My husband has put his nose up at dedicated e-readers, and said he'd use his iPad (which I realize is a preferred e-reader for lots of people.) But he just wasn't using it. He was looking through the bookcase to see if there were any paper books he hadn't read, but of course we aren't buying those anymore and we have purged ourselves of clutter, including old books. I asked why he wouldn't read on the iPad, and he said it was too big. I asked if he wanted to use my Kindle. He wasn't sure, but I said to just start something and stop if he didn't like it. His first comment was that there wasn't enough on each page, but after about 15 minutes he said he was used to pressing the button and the small amount on each page didn't phase him as page turns didn't cause him to stop reading anymore.

It's been two weeks and I think it might no longer be MY Kindle. He reads it all the time. I've been using my Nook ST exclusively. I love my NST, but I need something to access my Kindle books. (I'd rather just get a Kindle than remove DRM on everything.) I might get a Paperwhite after it looks like they're pretty consistent quality-wise.

I'm quite happy with my K4S and have no desire to upgrade.

It's a shame Walmart and Target stopped selling Kindles. I got my current K4S last April from Walmart for $49 ($79 + free $30 gift card).

I suspect the remaining stores still selling them (Best Buy, Office Depot, Staples) might offer some gift card deals this Black Friday (just 3 weeks from now).

Consider waiting until then to see what deals pop up.

I got my husband a $50 gift card to Best Buy and with another $30 one he got his own damn kindle! I think they are down to $69 now yes?

By the paperwhite and give him the kindle. That is how I can justify getting new electronics. I ordered a Kindle Fire HD (7"), and gave my husband my old kf. He hasn't set it up yet, and he doesn't play apps, but he asked me last night if he could surf on it. I didn't have the heart to tell him the wi-fi is just about useless. Of course he might have better luck - I did a factory reset for him.

I don't have any trouble with the WiFi on my KF. What problems were you having?

Yep and the black version is the one to get. The contrast is greatly improved compares to last year's silver. I love my K4B!

It's well worth the $69. I am thinking about getting another one for a backup because out of all Kindles I've own or see personally. The K4B is the best in contrast.

Hmmm...my wifi works fine, I read this forum and others, the news, watch youtube etc all the time.

Removing DRM on everything that has it has become an automatic backup system for me. As long as so-called bookstores insist that I am licensing an ebook when I buy one, I'm not going to trust them not to revoke my license at some time in the future for whatever reason.

And don't anyone give me any bullshit about agreeing to their terms of trade before I buy. I cross my fingers when I click on 'I agree'.

As it happens not a lot of what I buy has DRM, but that's probably just coincidence.
