Suggestion for Kobo folks - Firmware Updates
I have no idea at what interval folks generally do synching to the Kobo cloud. I would like to suggest though that, when a firmware upgrade is available, and the user has synced their device three times, that you give them the firmware upgrade.
This will help stop the whining in this forum. ![]() ![]() |

Twice daily factory reset doesn't get my KT the new update I've been hoping for. See if 3 or 4 factory resets a day gets the update. This doesn't interfere with reading or retired life.

Doing a factory reset isn't needed. If the 2.1.4 is going to be rolled out to you, just connecting to the desktop app or doing a WiFi sync is all you need to do.

They could avoid load on their servers, and people waiting and complaining, by simply supporting manual updating, (which works well btw). Then we could share that upgrade package between ourselves. Everything would be much faster.

Yes, but surely an upgrade script contained in the download could check validity of the version before changing anything.

I got it as soon as I synced - no issues with updating. Just general Glo freezes (which are thankfully rare).

Actually, there hasn't been any problems with the firmware not working on some hardware units. The problem has been in various bits of firmware, especially the firmware update management firmware (of which they managed to screw up the Australian destined devices).

It is all a vast conspiracy aimed at crushing the Australian republican movement once and for all.
