Php Metadata question

I have written a simple little php script to go through my exported epub files and input the data into mysql to list on a webpage on my internal server. Everything works fine except for the series and series index. I am using simplexml and pull out title description, etc easily, however getting the series and series_index are stumping me.

Any suggestions would be appreciated, and can post if needed or requested.
