Kindle Keyboard 3.4 Software Update now available!
http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/custom...deId=200529700
Software Update Version 3.4 Version 3.4 is a brand new, free software update for Kindle Keyboard that includes: Improved Font: We've improved the reading font to have more contrast and be more crisp. Parental Controls: With the latest software update for Kindle Keyboard, parents can restrict access to the Experimental Web Browser, the Kindle Store, and Archived Items. While the Kindle Store and Archived Items are locked with Parental Controls, you can continue to buy books from a computer and send them to the Kindle wirelessly for a child to read. Kindle Format 8: KF8 makes books look even better with support for author specified fonts and more book styling options. Comic Books: Kindle Keyboard now supports comic books with Kindle Panel View. Supported titles can be purchased from the Kindle Store. Books open in Kindle Panel View by default (a view that allows you to read a comic book panel by panel). Children's Picture Books: Kindle Keyboard supports children's picture books with Kindle Text Pop-Up. Supported titles can be purchased from the Kindle Store. Whispersync for Voice: Now you can switch back and forth between reading and listening without losing your place. Whispersync for Voice will synchronize what you read on any Kindle platform device with Audible playback on Kindle Keyboard, Kindle Fire, or on Audible apps for iPhone and Android. |

Wow, it is interesting how Amazon quickly updated the third generation reader while discontinuing the Touch (4th gen). I think that must speak loudly for the continued popularity of the K3 Keyboard. When you get it right, don't mess with it except to update the FW. The K3 will probably still be offered long after all the 5th gen have been discontinued.
Anyone check to see if the update messed up unlimited web browsing via 3G? Just curious... |

Amazon said they kept the Keyboard because it's the most accessible model. Awhile ago I saw a report where they're looking to make the screens more durable on the next versions of them too. So, I think it'll be next year when we'll be seeing a huge revision to them. |

My second favorite Kindle, after my poor abused GDX (which will never again get an update). Nice set of features.

I'm happy to report that free unlimited 3g is still in effect with the 3.4 update! Just tested it out and it worked fine.
There could be a huge expectation effect here and I don't have an old 3.3 firmware K3 to compare with, but the font does seem notably sharper. Nice bonus. I was not expecting any further K3 updates. |

So, now that I've updated my K3, how do I know if any of my books are available in KF8 format, and how do I go about updating them?
Anybody have any suggestions for any free or sample books that show off the new features -- comic books, KF8, etc? |
