Back not forward
Morning, hoping you guys can help. I've had a kobo touch for a few weeks now, great piece of kit at a great price. One problem has occurred over the last few days.
When reading a page I flick the screen on the right to go forward but it goes back instead, when flicking the on the right again it goes forward but obviously I have to do it twice to get back to the page I want. I've changed between the different reader settings but it still does it. Any ideas? |

Morning Westonp, welcome to the forum.
What you describe sounds rather strange. What exactly do you do when you "flick" the screen? Do you swipe it from right to left? Or do you just throw your finger on? If in any way the gesture you make looks like a swipe from left to right, the page will turn backwards... I.e. to turn a page, you can either swipe the screen (right to left for page forward; left to right for page back), or you can tap the screen. What happens when you tap depends on where you tap on the screen and what specific screen-tap-settings you have set. |

If you swipe the screen, the page is supposed to turn in the direction you've swiped. The side of the screen you swipe on does not matter.
If you just tap the screen, the page is supposed to turn, but in this case the direction is configurable under the "Advanced Settings". |

I don't know how widespread this behaviour is, but I can say that I have experienced it. I've had my Kobo Touch since November 2011. The odd behaviour:
When I use a finger to swipe from right to left, the page goes back instead of forward. In this instance, I have to page forward (tap or swipe) twice more to get where I wanted to go in the first place. This oddity only occurs occasionally. I've learned to live with it, and it is just a minor inconvenience to me. I generally use tapping to turn pages, and generally only swipe less than ten percent of the time, so this issue doesn't come up that often. I have tried different ways of swiping, and swiped different areas of the screen, and I still can't predict when this faulty page turn will occur. Summary: I've seen this faulty swipe behaviour. It only happens occasionally. I don't know why it happens. I don't know how to fix it. I can read happily, but with extra taps and swipes. Also, this behaviour happens less frequently than dead screen taps. That's another reason why I can live with it. (eta - this behaviour has occurred on at least two different firmware versions). Thanks for your comments.
It's definetly a right to left swipe that I do since it's the same action I then need to do twice to get where I want to. I've also notice that the tapping of the page doesn't working 100% and in the last two nights it's frozen completely and I've had to turn it off completely. Sound like I have a unit from a dodgy batch? |

Not necessarily. What firmware version are you using? There are a couple with page turning issues... The newest (2.1.1) works really well, but it's not yet available everywhere. It will be soon though (whatever "soon" means).

I would first confirm whether the weird reverse swiping behaviour occurs when you swipe on various parts of the screen. For example, if it only happens when your swipe is on the left side of the screen, then perhaps it is somehow mistaking your swipes for taps.
