OPDS Client?
Does anyone know of a way to use Calibre to download content from remote OPDS calatalogs? I want Calibre to act as the central repository for all my books, but since it's much easier to grab books with my Android device using fbreader than it is on my PC, I end up wasting time back-copying books to my PC.

I'm thinking that a general purpose OPDS client in Calibre makes a lot of sense. We wouldn't have to petition for the inclusion of catalogs for sites that support OPDS. I may have a look at the API and see about making a plugin for this.
I'm wondering if there's a demand for this besides me. Anyone? |

Please make this happen! The single most important feature I am missing from Calibre is a way to import books from an OPDS of my choosing.... I'll pay to have this feature

I would like this feature as well, Kudalufi.
Calibre's content server produces an OPDS catalog, so it would seem useful for Calibre to be able to read (and retrieve books from) such catalogs as well. How would you implement it? As a read-only device driver, or something else? |

Shameless bump! All I want for Christmas is for Calibre to be able to DOWNLOAD from ODPS catalogs of my choosing/creation! But I wouldn't be disappointed if Christmas came early.

I am working on this, but it's slow going as I'm in the navy and don't have a lot of spare time. I knew nothing about OPDS coming into this, so I've had to research it. I've got a mostly working simple client now. I just need to stuff this code into a plugin and pretty it up. I doubt before Christmas, as my Christmas leave this year starts pretty late (21st).

I guess I will have to keep practicing my Python. I started working on it too, but as far as I got was a generic plugin that no longer even installs
![]() I'll keep trying though! With our powers combined... |
