PRS-T1 T1 Locked Up, Reset, Now DRM Error ?????

T1 locked up while reading. Screen was alternating between Blank Screen and Rotating Arrows. Would not react to any button press or power off. Used Reset Button. Reader came back but when I try to reopen the library book that I was reading, I get the message: "ERROR. Protected by Digital Rights Management". What do I do now? Any suggestions?

You need to log on to your account and re-register the device.
(and possibly re-download your purchased content)

I think mine just died while I was actually reading the timing strikes me as fairly suspicious with the T2 just out, it was working great full battery then just stopped responding to page turns while I was reading, reset seems to have no effect I've pressed it close to a hundred times along with holding and even tapping the power button.

I'm out of tricks it was perfect one second and now seems to be a brick.

Are you suggesting that Sony somehow sent a kill code via wi-fi or something to disable your T1 so that you'll buy a T2?

I just think it's a little suspicious absolutely nothing happened and now I can't get it working, not even the reset is doing a thing unfortunately.

Coincidental, yes. Suspicious? Seems a bit of a stretch.

Well I'll probably not be buying another anyway I spent a lot of money on it the case and the Micro SD and to be honest I can't believe it lasted less than a year when I treated it carefully.

Guess I'm back to reading on my phone now, of course I'll check out the warranty situation tomorrow but now it's discontinued etc I don't like my chances.

Well, hopefully somebody more technically able than I will be along to offer some advice shortly.

If it has broken after only a year, that would be pretty poor though.

Nope only happened about 30 min before my post I guess came on hoping to find a thread with a magic answer but I'd already tried everything I've read unfortunately so I think I'll look into my options tomorrow or just write it off as an expensive loss.

I think the reset button does actually work even though it's not doing anything as I tried plugging in a charger and hitting the reset kills the red light for a second or two unfortunately no other effect.

Guess it's just dead in honesty but I couldn't tell you what went wrong it just froze on a page and stayed like that.

Just to update this I never could get it working again but because I'd owned it less than a year the shop I bought it in gave me a brand new one so I'm happy again although it will probably take me quite a while to get it up to date and everything loaded again.

I'm kinda hoping I can just stick my Micro SD in and the books will show but I'll not even try that until I've given the new one a full charge and updated the firmware.

Last time I updated my Sony Reader (from a 600 to a 650, so not exactly the same situation) just swapping over the SD card worked perfectly, btw.

If any of the books are DRMed, you'll probably need to re-authorise the device though.

(But I encourage everyone to strip the DRM from ebooks that they purchase. DRM on books one's bought is just an immense pain. Google for Apprentice Alf if you need help eliminating DRM.)

Well everything seem's to have gone well I also think it's a newer build model than my old one as the firmware didn't need updated and the stock three pictures are also different ones, screen also seems a bit whiter so I've probably actually gained from this.

Switching in the Micro SD seems to have worked just fine and when I used the software reader to check for firmware it automatically put the Adobe DRM back on. So really a very trouble free changeover.
