The Big Sin by Jack Webb is a vintage pulp murder mystery originally published in 1952 by Boardman (or Rinehart, or Signet, depending on which listing you look at) and now e-printed and offered free for the next week courtesy of publisher Adams Media's Prologue Books sibling imprint.

Another Prologue crime freebie I didn't already buy during the 99 cent sale. Yay!

Currently free @ B&N and Amazon UK (likely to drop in the main store).

Description
When a determined Irish Catholic priest and a tough Jewish police detective team up to solve the murder of a gorgeous showgirl, the evidence of violence and corruption they uncover tears the town apart!

Of his fast and unusual thriller Jack Webb writes: “The Big Sin was written because I needed faith in myself. So I wrote a story about faith … For all the gaudiness my story may wear as a mystery filled with violence, good is good in it, and bad, bad, ant there’s strength enough in the simply faith within to swing the outcome.”

Father Shanley refused to believe that Rose had committed the big sin.

I remember that each episode of Dragnet was titled "The Big _____". This can't be Dragnet's Jack Webb, can it?

According to the comments in response to this hilariously misinformed and misguided 1-star review, no, they're two completely different writers who both happen to be named (or use the pen name) Jack Webb.
