Kindle 3 and iPhone 4S use the same TTS voice?
I don't use the TTS feature on my Kindle very often, so it took me almost a year to notice this, but has anybody else noticed that the K3 and the iPhone 4S use the same exact TTS voice?
I just typed a passage into the notepad app on my phone and did select all & speak and played the passage back to back with the Kindle reading the same passage and they're identical except for an ever so slight change in intonation at the end of a question, indicating a slightly different set of engine rules/settings or samples. Interesting... |

The Samsung Galaxy SII is the same - all supplied by the same company I would imagine afterall why reinvent the wheel

That TTS voice is nearly universally used. Companies don't create all of their own things. They borrow from manufacturers.

Yeah, but most of the TTS out there aren't very embeddable, and they probably didn't pick out a special voice. Went for a good engine, and used what ever default voice there was.
