Calibre and Kobo Vox

Please could someone tell me if Calibre can send a book which I have bought and can read with Calibre, into my Kobo Vox ereader? If so, how do I find out how to do it?

The help merely says that I can now read the book via an ereader or in Calibre, and goes on to explain how to read it in calibre but not in an ereader. There is a button to click on to send it to device, and also another one to send it somewhere or other.
Neither of them seem to do anything at least judging by the fact that the book doesn't show up in the ereader.
I have also tried just putting the file in using the Windows operating system but the ereader does not detect it is there.
When I set Calibre up I chose the associated ereader as Kobo Vox, though when I connect the Vox via the usb cable, calibre says it can detect a phone,
I realise it is free software so I can't complain. Also I only have bought one ebook so am a beginner at it.
