Calibre starting on wrong monitor
I'm using Windows XP and Calibre 0.8.62. I have a dual-monitor set up. I like to keep Calibre in the second monitor. Some months ago I noticed that Calibre began starting in the main monitor every time. This was a change from its previous behavior, though I'm not sure if any particular event preceded it, such as a crash.
If the Calibre window is maximized when I close it, it will always position on the main monitor next time it's started. If it is less than full-screen when it's closed, it will position in the second monitor--but return to the main monitor the next time I close it while maximized. Calibre is the only program affected--all other windows remember their positions as expected. This is not a huge problem, but it's becoming annoying. Any hint how I can get Calibre back to always remembering its position? |

I run triple head on XP. I cabn confirm Full Screen always opens on Main if full screen.
Calibre always shows its Logo on the "main monitor" in XP, but It opens on the last monitor used when it was closed (red X) if NOT full screen. Daughter windows open on the last monitor they were on. BTW User_none confirms there is a bug in QT4.8.2 that affects Sigil 902 (and probably Calibre) in saving windows positions. It does not affect the older QT 4.7.4 |

This is a Qt bug. calibre itself contains no code to select which monitor windows open on. Hopefully, it will be fixed in Qt and when it is, calibre will inherit the fix.

I run my multi-monitors with UltraMon (www.ultramon.com). It's not free, but I've always felt I got the value I wanted from it. One of the abilities it possesses is to dictate where and how big a window opens up. It solves the Calibre issue you have raised. It opens up where ever Calibre wants to open up and then automagically moves to your desired position. Thus, it takes a fraction of a second longer to open and be ready to run.
Or we can wait for the doyens of Qt to hear your plea. GM |

I never run anything maximised. Just slightly less than maximised is so much more flexible. All of my applications have their permanent homes on my dual-monitor setup, so arranged that I can always see at least a portion of each, so that a single click brings any one of them to the front.
