MobileRead wins Palm Addicts Award 2007
What can I say about Palm Addicts other than to assure you that its Editor in Chief, Sammy McLoughlin, has built one of the best Palm sites on the entire Web. And while not directly related to e-books, you'll still find tons of well-researched articles, news, and commentary on reading books on mobile devices.
It is an honor for me to announce that Sammy has chosen MobileRead as his personal favorite website in 2007 for "all things ebooks and epublishing." Thank you, Sam!! |

I'm moderately surprised that we were second for "Best Palm Blog". I didn't know we were one.

MR used to be more Palm-focused, when there were virtually no dedicated e-readers available yet.

The question they forgot to ask:
Does your Palm PDA run PalmOS5, or Windows Mobile?
I bet the ratio is about 1 to 5. |

Yeah, this could be true. Also WM here My last Palm OS powered Palm was a Sony Clie 760D.

Must admit that I wasn't even sure if Palm were still in the PDA business at all! In this neck of the woods at least, Windows Mobile seems to have well and truly "won" the battle.

They're really nothing more than a hardware manufacturer, and that's all they've been for quite some time.

They spun a WM based Treo to go after the corporate market, which runs Windows and Office on the desktop, Outlook for email, and an Exchange Server on the back end in the data center. A WM device running Pocket Word, Excel, and Outlook with ActiveSync to talk to Exchange Server is a much easier sell than than a Palm OS Garnet device. I prefer Palm OS, but I can't argue with their reasoning. I'd do the same thing. ______ Dennis |
