Driver Problem
I just tried to connect my kobo touch to the computer for the first time since the upgrade to 2.0. i wanted to sideload a few books but it appears i have a driver problem becuase my kobo is no longer recognized by my computer and i have no plug-play capacity anymore.
I am hoping there is a way to re-install the drivers without having to factory reset my device. I just lost my shortlist, all stats, etc in the upgrade and it took me a significant time to redo it and set up my kobo how I like it. I REALLY do not want to do it again. In my attempts to connect I have used multiple cords, tried 4 different USB ports and tried to plug in my cell phone (which worked on all cords and all USB ports) that so I know my problem is specific to the kobo. My kobo recognizes it has been plugged in and prompts me to connect to the computer but then the drive never appears. Any help or advice is appreciated! I'm extra anxious because I am trying to upload the third and final book in a trilogy and dying to see how it turns out. I'm sure you understand! |

Have you tried uninstalling / reinstalling Kobo Desktop?
In Windows Control Panel / Device Manager do any unknown devices show up? If so I think there is an option to install a driver; I *believe* (but have not tried) that the drivers can be found in c:\program files\kobo\drivers or c:\program files (x86)\kobo\drivers |

No unknown devices, redownloaded desktop software had no effect, ran the driver install with no luck. i don't even know why i bother keeping books on my kobo or enjoying my stats when i constantly lose them. i love ereading but this cycle of repairing bugs is frustrating me.
thanks for the help i think i will have to factory reset (again). ![]() |

I am also having the same problem except I have just bought my reader.
I have reinstalled kobo desktop numerous times, factory resetted the reader, done the paperclip reset, tried different ports/cables etc. I get to step 1 but nothing happens from there, even after leaving it for 4 hours!!! It says on the ready connected and charged so is definitely working. I'm lost and very agitated as been trying to get this set up since 12pm!!! |

This time when I upgraded to 2.0 had same problem as post 1 in this thread.
Fixed it with these steps. Kobo home screen click on gear, then settings. On setting page top item is Account, select it. On Account page sign out then sign in. Should fix your problem. I didn't like doing this but it did solve problem. |

I too fixed this with logging out and logging back in, again. Lost my shortlist and all my recent tweaks to my library but I didn't have to reload my library. Hope it doesn't happen again!

@imsoawesome : Had you tried a power off / on of the Touch while you were having the issues?
I'm wondering if some code on the Touch had stopped responding; the logout in effect empties the database and forces the unit to reboot and then redoes the registration / setup; the power off would also cause a reboot. |
