Newbie, to all this and questions about using Calibre with Dropbox
I'm keeping all my e-books on Dropbox as I use about 5 different machines and multiple OS's on each.
For the life of me I can't figure out how to point Calibre to an existing Calibre library, i.e. the one on Dropbox. The setup-wizard wants an empty directory and I can't find anything in the preferences section that will let me "point" Calibre to the new directory. Help? -Rob Last edited by RobFindlay; 07-15-2012 at 09:54 AM. |

Please ask questions in the correct forum; this most assuredly does not belong in the "News" forum! I'm moving it to the Calibre forum.

The setup Wizard wants: 1)A existing Calibre Library folder (the one with metadata.db) 2)Empty (so as to NOT mix things in that do not belong) |

You could install Calibre to create its library in a different location, then use the "Switch/Create Library" menu item to point it at your existing Dropbox library.

I use dropbox w/multiple libraries.
When you first install CalibreDB on a new computer I just have it create a "blank" library. Then use switch library to point to the library in dropbox. At that point you can go back and "remove" the library created when you installed CalibreDB. Remember to delete the actual files from your computer as removing the library doesn't remove the actual files! |
