Link to 2.0 firmware????????

Does anyone have the direct link to download the new firmware 2.0?

I have tried a number of variations from http://download.kobobooks.com/firmwa...ate-1.9.17.zip but I havn't been able to hit on the correct combination

Thanks

The 2.0 roll out has been put on hold until issues that people have been having with it can be resolved.

It's the desktop and installation issues that led to pulling the firmware--not the firmware itself.

Ok I just assumed if the roll out was put on hold a manual download wouldn't work either. Thanks for that taming.

We don't know this. It could be the firmware itself.

what taming said was in reference to a message sameer gave the beta group, saying that the problem could be because the beta group doesn't use the normal installation routine like everyone else and that was why nobody experienced any problems. Manually installing the update should be ok.

Simplest way to avoid most problems is to install the 2.0 update after a factory reset, and than sync your books.

Whatever the reason it is worth a try, it's not like you can brick it permanently. If any problems just do a hard reset.

Manually installing doesn't seem that difficult so couldn't Kobo make it available for download to all with instructions to install that way? If the beta group didn't see any problems installing like that it would seem to me the firmware is good to go and the problem lies in distribution. Just a thought. I'm sure I'm missing something that makes this not an option or at the very least a very complicated option. I factory reset my Touch and updated it back to 1.9.17 and hope this is resolved soon. I liked what I did get to see of 2.0 before I buggered it somehow.

I tried this. Didn't work. But I did it from a fresh v1.9.17 upgrade, not a complete factory reset. So I'm now doing a factory reset and I'll try 2.0.0 from that.

Using the move KoboRoot.tgz to .Kobo directory method.

Didn't put the upgrade directory from the zip file anywhere, as I haven't seen any instructions to do so.

Did you try from a factory reset without setup or with the 1.9.17 firmware installed? I ask only because I thought about attempting it and don't want to waste my time if you tried both ways. Thanks.

I can confirm that a manual install did not prevent all problems with this update. I had exactly the same dancing squares after factory reset and manual install that I did with the usual spoonfed method.

Right now, I'm trying it from a freshly factory reset 1.9.11.

Not looking good. Dancing Squares for 5 minutes now.

Ok I never got the dancing squares but ended up with all my books reset as unread or 1% read and lost my awards. Not sure I want to risk the dreaded dancing squares.

Meera, did you only move KobotRoot.tgz to the device, or did you move the upgrade folder too?

The prescribed 15 minutes have passed. No luck on the manual upgrade to 2.0.0.
