K4 battery life
I bought a K4 (NT) last fall, and both my wife and me have been using it quite heavily. On average, it's getting used probably between one and two hours a day. Lately, I realize that battery life seems to be decreasing quite fast (wifi mostly switched off). Currently a fully charged battery hardly lasts us a week when we read a bit more than average -- when the device was new it often had one third or more left after two full weeks.
I was wondering if anyone has similar experience and has been on contact with Amazon? |

Poor battery life is often due to a book that's got stuck indexing. To check this, do a search for a non-existent string, and see if you get an "X items waiting to be indexed" type message.

Indexing, most likely. Either that, or you happened to get a lemon.

I would do a factory reset and then add the books back slowly. Keep it plugged in while it indexes. The K4 can be temperamental. It doesn't like too many books. I once sent 20 books to it through email and it froze up on me. I have about 140 books on mine that was slowly added. I get about two weeks charge but I read about 5 to 8 hours a day on it. If I read less I can get 18 days of charge.
I've had mine since release day and it still works fine. So if after a factory reset and less books it still give that amount of battery life give Kindle support a call. |

From what I read in my NowBible manual on their Lithium battery is that all lithium batteries have a life of 500 full charges. After that they go kaput.
If you do more full charges than others, your battery will last less than others. |
