Do you know how to return ebooks to the libary?

The issue of waiting lists for library ebooks pops up from time to time. One way to reduce waiting lists is to return ebooks when you're done with them, but do you know how?

My library lets you choose between 7, 14, and 21 day borrowing. I generally choose 7 days, read the book, and return it if I have time left over.

Given the wait lists, 21-days is just too long. 14-days is much better.

Certainly I know how. If I'm done early, I do try to remember to return it... especially if I had to wait a considerable time to get it. I've set my default borrowing length to 7 days, but I will bump that to 14 if I know 7 is unrealistic—given book-length and current real-life free-time constraints.

Yes, but I rarely return books early because I shorten and/or stagger the checkout length depending on how many and what they are. When I do that right, I finish them right on time, so no need to return them early. (Like some others, I can choose 7, 14, or 21 days.)

I voted "Yes, and I always return books early." even though it's only usually. Sometimes I forget, and sometimes I'm not actually done with a book. I do have my default set to 2 weeks; sometimes 1 week if it's a reference book, or something I'm just looking at out of idle curiosity.

When I'm done with a book I return it. Certainly with more frequency than when I was returning physical books to the physical library.

BWinmill sorry to seem picky ... but .... there's no vote category for my answer which is:

Only some of the ebooks at my library are early returnable, not all of them.

So - yes - I early return for those that I can.

I have the default for my library set as 28 days

When I have finished the book I always click to return it

My library allows lending periods of 7 or 14 days. I have my default set to 14, but I return stuff as soon as I'm done so as not to keep other people waiting unnecessarily.

Most of the time I choose 7 days, occasionally 14 if I think I'll take too long. Rarely do I feel the need for a whole 21 days. In any case I always return the minute I am done with a book, so if it is on a holds queue, the next person gets it right away.

Our library also allows for up to 20 e-loans at a time (they have several formats of books, pdf, and audio as well as epub). But I have yet to see more than a handful of the books I am interested in actually available all at once.

For a popular title, I often wait so long I am surprised when I get the notification, forgetting that I had placed the hold to begin with haha.

I return early as much as I am able, though sometimes I do need the full 21 days. Wait times in my system are horrendous, so I try to make it as easy on the next person as I can!

I download them, load them onto my Kobo, unplug my Kobo, and return the book immediately. This works fine as long as you don't hook your Kobo back up to ADE.

I default to 14 days at one library or 21 at the other but I return them when I am done with them.
