Free (Kindle) Valley of Fire by Janelle Taylor [Contemporary Romance]

Valley of Fire by Janelle Taylor is a contemporary romance, free courtesy of publisher Bell Bridge Books who are e-printing it from its original 1984 Harlequin incarnation.

Currently free @ Amazon UK (may or may not drop in the main store).

Incidentally, another Taylor-written Kensington/Zebra historical romance is stealth/permafreebie from Kobo and her books from both Bell Bridge and Kensington are couponable there as well: Cherokee Storm, linkage to author listing; where she's got some $2.88 CAD sale titles which are further discountable.

Description
Her world is built on Happily Ever Afters. His world is built on a cynical distrust of fairytale romance. Will he prove that she’s just another huckster selling fake dreams?

Wealthy businessman Steven Winngate thinks bestselling novelist Kathleen “Brandy” Alexander is researching him for a book. When he finds her in the desert outside Las Vegas, lost and sick from the heat, he wonders if she’s pretending to be a stranded hiker—conning him just to score an introduction.

But Brandy is the real deal—honest, innocent and very distraught by her sudden dependence on the handsome blue-eyed stranger who rescued her. He says his name is Lance Reynolds, but that rings false. Soon she and “Lance” are circling each other amidst the glitter of Vegas, trying to break down the wall of mystery between them.

Wow, that name sure brings back a lot of memories. I remember reading one of her "captive Indian bride" books back in the day when I was less picky. I was annoyed about the writing -- the big misunderstandings, the obnoxious heroes, the over-the-top non-PCness, the repetiveness, etc. So of course I went and ordered one for old time's sake.

There is a certain charm to those 80's romances! One of these days I should re-read some Woodiwiss. I devoured those, back in the day!
