Hi from Utah

I've been reading ebooks for ages on an iPaq, Treo 700w, Samsung Q1, Sony PRS500, and now a Kindle. Well, I would be reading on the Kindle, except it's not working! Keeps freezing up. Let's hope that Amazon makes good on my service request.

I'm a librarian, BTW. I'm interesting in thinking about and discussing how libraries could make use of ebook devices.

Welcome to MobileRead. I hope all goes well with your Kindle repair. But at least you still have the 500 to read with and plenty of good books here to choose from till it gets fixed.

Welcome to the Forum. Keep the faith on the Kindle. Meanwhile, the 500 isn't a bad alternative.

Yay! Amazon replaced my bad Kindle. The new one works fine. I still think the Sony is a better constructed device, but the Kindle's features sure are nice: wireless purchases, annotation, and searching. Excellent!

hope you have better experiences with the second Kindle. ebook readers in libraries would be interesting! maybe at some point you could rent an e-ink device and access library resources online...
