Creaky K3
My K3 is quite new, only about 1 month+ old. Within a couple of days, I noticed that it creaked near the right previous page button. Now the creaking seems to have extended to the entire right side of the frame. I wonder if the tropical climate is to blame, or the fact that I sometimes carried the K3 in a pouch that's padded on one side (with a cardboard placed next to the unpadded side) placed in my bag but on the side nearer my body.
Should I be worried about the creakiness? Having read some old posts about this issue, I now put the K3 in a bookstyle cover that is made of stiff material. |

It should not "creak" unless it is being flexed. Too much flexing (especially torsional flexion) can crack the bezel in the corners, and can also crack the screen. A rigid cover can help.

My K3 creaks on the left top side by the screen. Someone told me it was the glue to the screen loosening. Mine hasn't spread though like that. Just one spot that started late last year.
I would get it replaced if it's under warranty. |

I dobnt see anuy cracks, but mine sure makes creaky sounds when handling it. Its certainly not as sturdy as my K2 was.

The k4 uses lots of glue though, and you can (will) break the eink screen if you try to remove it. Even the battery is glued in (permanently), and the back cover is glued on (but using glue that can be stretched and cut). On the k3, you can even remove the thin glass screen from its protective backing plate, so you can see the silvery negative image on its back surface. My K3's creaking comes without flexing, just by lightly pressing the right side of the frame. I just got a thick neoprene/foam zip pouch from Case Logic, and I will contact Kindle CS if the creaking gets worse or unnerves me more, whichever happens first!
