[DIGITimes] Google 7" Nexus to ship in July for $200
Not a new rumor but this time a little more data is provided. The rumor now has some data that give slightly more credence to the rumor.

How do these specs compare with a Kindle Fire or a Nook Tablet?

Another rumor is that it it will have a T3 which is a quad core processor which makes it considerably more powerful than the KFire and Nook. It will be more on par with the Transformer and iPad3. Also a Nexus device but the rumors is this device will cost between $200-$250. =X= |

I like the second rumor better. However, they need to get on the ball with pre-orders if they plan to ship in June. |

It's a good move, if the rumours are true. Get in at an entry level point price-wise, sell boatloads, and get people used to the platform.

"The Times they are a changing." ANOTHER new vendor. 7 inch TABLET. $200 price point. ICS Does anyone think that Apple can stand by and just let this onslaught continue without putting their own pony in the race? I will go out on a limb and state that Apple MUST have a 7" tablet by Christmas! |

Yes, and they must have a special packaging that includes sandpaper, our sausage fingers are certainly not suitable for such a tiny fondleslab (nevermind that the iphone has shipped with a 3.5" screen for 5 years now).

I like the sounds of that second rumor. Something that powerful in that size would be fantastic at the price estimated.

Sounds good but I need some specs and some real life testing.

Call me underwhelmed! This is a little too little too late as far as I'm concerned. Samsungs new 7.0 2 tablet pretty much has all I could want in a tablet. That is where my money will be going at some point.

The tablet market is still it its infancy, so not too late. And the Samsung does not have specs matching the rumours of this Asus/Google tablet (though they are just that for now, rumours), and costs more than the rumoured $150-200 price point. If they can get decent specs, an open platform (full ICS with market, standard connectors) and hit that price point, this should sell like the proverbial hot cakes.

i hope the Nexus device has two cameras. an outward facing camera often gets ridicule on engadget and other comments sections but its so very handy when you are video chatting during parties and christmas etc to keep things in frame for the grandparents when the kids are opening presents etc. augmented reality apps are icing on the cake for my 7 year old.
- we dont own a device that can be used as above( but have experimented with a friends Galaxy 10.1) but certainly would grab up a Nexus device for under 250 with those abilities. |

Well its has been rumoured that google is going to do away with 1 nexus device each year from a manufacturer. Instead it is going to for multiple nexus devices from different manufacturers and specs. I think this would be the kick needed for faster updates for most Android devices. As by doing this google will be releasing Android for different processors config etc at the same time so should increase the pace of updates.
