How do I find out if I can borrow from the Kindle Lending Library?

My husband got an Amazon prime account. He added me to it.

My husband bought a Kindle. I bought a Kindle.

Can both of us borrow from the Kindle lending library or just him (I guess I mean just his Kindle)? He won't borrow; I would like to try.

How do we actually make a borrow attempt and see if it succeeds?

It's associated with the Amazon ACCOUNT, not the person. The ACCOUNT does the borrowing. If both your Kindles are registered to the same Amazon account, you're good to go.

First you want Amazon Prime but can't get it because you don't want to use a credit card, next you're complaining that it's not enough and you don't even have it. Like HarryT said, you'd have to associate your Kindle with his account. The sharing feature is only good for shipping benefits. That's to keep people from selling spots on their account:

His Kindle is registered to his account and mine is registered to my account.

Then you can't borrow books if only he is a Prime member. It would be more sensible to register both Kindles to the same account; that way you can share books.

I think it is a fair reminder. If her husband borrows a book, she cannot borrow a book that month. So the lending library is great but very limited and the advice to look into borrowing from libraries if you want to read books for free is well founded.

If I deregister/reregister my Kindle, don't I lose access to my Amazon books and get access to his, though? From my perspective that's like cutting off my nose to spite my face. Not that I *HATE* Finnegan's Wake in theory, but our taste in books is totally different.

Unless your Kindle is a Fire, you don't lose the books that are already on your Kindle, they stay on the device when you deregister. You can always re-register to get access to download your books again.

Sharing one account doesn't mean you have to download each other's books, but it does give you the option if you both want to read the same one occasionally.

I know what you mean about Amazon & the Accounts! I dont have Cr Card but my son does BUT IF I use his cr card for Prime I DONT get the benifits of Prime ebooks nor Movies. So would do me no good

Anyway I like ebookfling! You can "borrow" the Lendable Kindle & Nooks for up to 2 weeks for cr. I have 74 crs LOL I built them up by posting ALL my Lendables!

I joined 2 libraries.... My Local for Free then the MD system for $18 a yr! Well Paid for themselves with all the ebooks & audios!

OH! Another thought! Next time you renew the Prime Put in on your account instead you dh!

I have a lot of lendable books but with the instant fling I got to "lend" them over and over again...

I like it but so many of the books are just niche and unappealing. Lots of erotica smooshed up next to Christian book and paranormal romances, most of it indie/self-pub. And the searching/filtering is crap, and they have a lot of books listed as available that really aren't.

Yep I wanted a books a few months ago went to get it ... Was Not even Lendable! I been a member since they started I think I got 2 eBooks total LOL Wish they let us sell or gift or crs... I dont think I use the crs I have! I quit posting my lendables months ago LOL

Another thing I quit doing was excepting the free ebooks they email out! Dont make any sence to get them just to fling... since ALL the members are being offered the same ebook Who the heck you going to fling it too!! Kinda silly lol

What I would really like is a way to filter out "lending enabled" books when searching on Amazon . I have borrowed many books on eBookfling and Lendle (some indies, but several from more mainstream publishers too), but finding out which books are lendable is still kind of a hassle.

My main authors are not lendable. Only lendables I ever got were Freebies. As I said If I can get them free every one can!
