Kindle Fire won't charge
This is only the 2nd time I tried charging it. The first time was okay, but now it won't charge

Is there any other solution besides taking it back? This was a gift so I'm not sure if my uncle should contact Amazon once he returns to LA, or if I can contact Amazon and return it from here (Philippines).

No idea if it will help, but you might try this: turn off the Fire (hold the on/off button until a message comes up asking if you want to turn it off, and tap "yes."), and then charge it overnight.

Some say the light turning to green does not necessarily mean it is fully charged. Give it at least four hours.

When you say it won't charge, do you mean the battery icon on the top does not show full charge, or that it will not turn on?

It may take several charges before the battery icon behaves properly.

Try unplugging and Replugging in the wall charger. The connection on the KF where the MicroUSB port is very temperamental on some units.

I concur with KlondikeGeoff -- completely power off the Fire (not sleep mode) and connect the cable and AC charger, for at least four hours, or overnight. If you suspect a faulty cable you can switch it with another USB/micro USB cable.

Every once in a while this is necessary to reset/refresh the battery calibration. Now it should charge normally in sleep mode.

is it strange that it only charges after i shut down the kindle? if i connect it while the KF is on, it doesn't show indications that it is charging

On mine the orange indicator doesn't come on till like a few seconds later after I plugged it in.

What firmware are you using?
