Internal links: how to remove gray background

Hi everyone,

I have just noticed that the text of every < a > tag has a very bad gray background on the PRS-T1, independently of any style I tried to set in the CSS of the book. And the T1 does not seem to provide a setting where I can disable "link highlighting".

Before posting, I did some search on the forum, but the only relevant post I have found is the following: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...47&postcount=5
However, applying the prescribed modification of the CSS did not solve the issue.

Indeed, setting the background-color property for the < a > tag both to "white" or "transparent" does not solve the issue. Note that the same EPUB is displayed correctly (no darker background on links) on different devices (Odyssey, eDGe, several PC reading apps).

So, does anyone know how to fix this problem? Thank you!

The post you referenced looks like it should work in general. Maybe your links have a different css class associated with them?

Here's an example from a random book in my library that Calibre converted from mobi to epub:

<p class="calibre7"><span class="calibre8"><a class="calibre9" href="../Text/CR%21P7V8FC9HB50WZ16WHV5N2AK4YKPA_split_002.html#f ilepos2093">Chapter One</a></span></p>

Here, the calibre7, calibre8 and calibre9 styles might all affect how the link is displayed.

Can you post an example and any relevent css styles for your link?

Cheers,
Simon.

The issue seems related to the rendering software of the PRS-T1, since the very same EPUB fine has links with gray background on the T1, and no background color when displayed by ADE or my Odyssey or my eDGe.

In short, it appears to me that the SONY sw applies the gray-ish background color to links, irrespective to the background-color property that I might declare for <a> tags in my CSS. (I tried to manually set it to "white" or "transparent", as I wrote in the first post, with no results.)

Moreover, I am not able to find a setting on the T1 that will let me disable this behavior.

So, I can reformulate my question as: has anyone found out how to disable the background color of (internal) links in EPUBs on the PRS-T1? If so, how can I do that? Thanks.
