I like how you just made up the K5 for Kindle Touch. Can't say that I've ever seen it referred to in that fashion. For some reason, you seem to have a problem with the Kindle Touch being referred to as KT.
I have started this thread with a poll to find out what Mobile Read users think of when they see the initials KT. Last edited by ucfgrad93; 04-27-2012 at 04:06 PM. |

The Kindle Touch is the same generation as the K4, often referred to as the Kindle Basic, or Kindle mini, so there is no reason why it would be called a K5. I think most people think Kindle Touch when they see "KT". It doesn't matter that the Kobo Touch came first, it is just more common to see it for Kindle, as the poll shows.

The K4 & K5 are abbreviated that way because of the version of the firmware.
K4 = 4.x firmware K5 = 5.x firmware KT = Kobo Touch because it came out first and has the rights to that abbreviation. |

Sorry Jon, no matter how many times you post it, when I see KT I go to Kindle Touch. As do most Kindle users. It matters little to anyone that the Kobo Touch was released first. There are more folks using the Kindle Touch and most recognize KT as Kindle Touch not Kobo Touch.

You talk about "rights", but it is just a nickname used by people on forums - there is no international ereader abbreviation committee.

We get people using abbreviations and not just in a specific Kobo or Kindle forum section. If we are all on the same page that KT is Kobo Touch, then when someone mentions KT, we'll all know what it means.

Yet again, Jon, you confuse "my personal opinion" with "the way that everybody else must think". The world does NOT run according to your personal opinions. Get over it.

Since Kobo is an anagram of Book, I propose that the Kobo Touch be henceforth referred to as the BT.

I suppose everyone is OCD about something. For instance, misspellings in thread titles give me hives.

But if someone with a KT was talking about it in a generic enough way in the general forum and did not have a KT listed as a device owned, then you would not know which device was being mentioned. This way, hopefully that person will have read this thread and be talking about the Kobo Touch. See, it works if we can get everyone on board for correctness.

Sorry, if KF is Kindle Fire, then KT is Kindle Touch.
And you can't change my mind, either. |
