I'm curious -a authors selling directly to readers

I am curious how many authors are selling directly to the readers. Does anyone know the URLs of any author who is selling directly to their readers. Sort of cut out all the middle men including cutting out the publishers and the book sellers alltogether.

For sf/fantasy, I know that Diane Duane (big chunk of original back catalogue), Barbara Hambly (writes new novellas set in her old fantasy worlds), Catherynne M. Valente (backlist and new stories, IIRC), and Harry Connolly who wrote the Twenty Palaces series all do it directly from their websites. Peter Watts and Mayer Alan Brenner offer free downloads and have Paypal tipjars.

Quite a lot do. If so, they'll usually have a link on their website, if not the ability to actually purchase through the website itself.

Can you give the URL of one of them that is doing that. I would love to see the URL for someone that is doing just this.

Google is your friend. But Barbara Hambly may be found at, as you might have guessed it: www.barbarahambly.com and her new novellas under the Further Adventures in the sidebar.

I'll warn that she also sells some old short stories which can be found cheaper in e-book compilations available elsewhere, such as Baen, but her blog lists the newly written stuff as it comes out and the longer things are the new ones anyway.
