Call of the Trumpet by Helen A. Rosburg is an historical travel adventure/coming-of-age journey of heritage/self-discovery set in North Africa in the 1800s with strong romantic elements according to the reviews (not really mentioned in the blurb), free courtesy of Medallion Press, which Rosburg happens to be the owner of.

Free @ B&N and iTunes (available to Canadians). May show up at Sony, but will not be appearing on Amazon due to their removal of all of Medallion Press' e-books due to ongoing contract dispute with distributor IPG.

Description
A tale of love, loyalty, and heartbreak, this book follows a young European girl, Cecile, as she travels to the Sahara desert to reconnect with her past and the memory of her mother. When she was an infant, her French father felt shattered when his Bedouin wife died in childbirth, and thus fled the desert with Cecile.

As Cecile gets older, she decides to leave the country she feels lost in, and return to the Sahara and its Bedouin culture. Faced with a physical, mental, and spiritual struggle, Cecile must deal with the danger and the culture clashes as she learns about love, honor, devotion, and her past.
