This is the second week of the Phoenix Pick Kindle promotion and they are offering Halfway Human by Carolyn Ives Gilman free on Tuesday and Wednesday.

I know this is supposed to be DRM free on Kindle, but I'm having a problem opening it with Calibre. Has anyone else tried or converted it to EPUB?

I had no trouble opening it or converting to ePub with Calibre (the then latest, 0.8.46). I downloaded the ebook with Kindle for PC 1.9.2.

DeDRM tells me that the file I downloaded from Amazon is not encrypted.

I'll try downloading to Kindle for PC. I've downloaded for two different Kindles and the latest Calibre can't open it at all (neither could a version about 2 years old that I've used for testing files for DRM since it was installed).

I'll also try a different OS (maybe it's some call Calibre makes that is different from XP to W7).

OK. Works fine on 2nd computer, so I'll try working on fixing whatever is wrong with Calibre on the original computer later...
