Free (ADE-ePub) The Holding by Claudia Dain [Medieval Historical Romance]

This is slated for free according to All Romance eBooks, but is stubbornly refusing to drop, possibly because it's DRM and/or the book is missing some standard listing data which interferes with an auto-change, and perhaps someone will have to adjust the price manually in the morning or maybe they've just decided to swap in something else for tomorrow instead.

Anyway, I want to get some sleep so I'm putting this up for any morning persons in the audience who want to pricedrop-check at their convenience.

Make sure the price says $0.00 in the cart before you checkout, although the system will ask you for a payment method if there's any non-free stuff in your cart regardless.

The Holding by currently Berkley-published Claudia Dain (who also writes women's fiction as Claudia Welch) is 1st in her Medieval Knights series of loosely-linked f/m historical romances, and All Romance eBooks' Earth Day countdown freebie for April 4th, offered in conjunction with her publisher ePublishing Works!

This actually doesn't have a heat index ranking at ARE or any of the usual ratings for the sensuality level or otherwise in its listing. It's also missing a sample excerpt, but judging from the description which involves the lord's primary motivation being to take possession of his lady in all ways and the write-up w/excerpt on the author's website, I'd guess these have some steaminess, but are probably otherwise no higher than 3 flames. I could however be thoroughly mistaken about how explicit and/or kinky it gets when the "claiming" starts after a rather innocuous-looking opening, so caveat 1-clicker (actually more like 5-clicker, considering how many steps the ARE checkout process tends to take).

It seems like there's a decent amount of historical event and background detail research which went into these and I might actually give this one a try at least for the first few chapters, even though I'm normally a no-romo.

Free (with DRM) as an ADE-ePub compatible with supporting readers (or y'know, vacuumed with "the tools") @ All Romance eBooks until just before midnight Central US time. If you missed the previous day's 2-flame f/m contemporary western romantic suspense, it'll still be free for a limited time: Zakia and the Cowboy.

The author doesn't seem to have anything particularly on sale, but she does have a nicely comprehensive website which gives detailed info on her many books, including how they link up and if there's any suggested reading order, and she's got a bunch of historical reference suggestions that aspiring writers may want to look at.

And it turns out her ePublishing Works! titles are couponable at Kobo (and thus likely Sony and Books on Board as well, depending on where you like to shop).

Description
