Joseph Wambaugh's Backlist Books $2.99 [Nook/Sony/Amazon/Kobo]

Nine of Joseph Wambaugh's backlist crime titles published by Mysterious Press late last year are $2.99 at Barnes & Noble (link for his books). It's a search link so it probably will expire, a search for his name on the site will bring up the books.

Six are available at Sony (link for the books).

Only The Black Marble and The Glitter Dome are price matched so far at Amazon. ***Edited to add: all 9 books are now price matched at Amazon.***

***Edited to add: Kobo seems to have discounted some or all of the books, you may have to click on Buy Now to bring up the discounted price.***

It's likely this is a promotion to go with the release of Harbor Noctourne next week.

He's pretty much a modern day Dashiell Hammett, IMHO.

Any particular ones from the $2.99 selection you'd recommend?

I remember reading and liking the friction between the partners in The Black Marble.

Lines and Shadows and The Blooding are non-fiction, if that's appealing.

The Black Marble is one of Wambaugh's best, and a good place to start.

Definately is. From the Mysterious Press website...

On April 3rd, our Grove/Atlantic imprint will release his latest novel, Harbor Nocturne. To mark the occassion, we've discounted his eBooks in the Amazon, iTunes and Barnes & Noble stores. Visit Wambaugh's author page to find the books we've published, as well as an exclusive video profile with the author.
Looks like Kobo has the discounted prices too, but not Google (at least on the titles I checked).

Must be only for the US Kobo store, the two titles they list in the Canadian store are still priced at $10.09. That's too bad, since discount codes can probably be added to these.

The search results pages in the US Kobo store show $10.09 for me, but if I click Buy Now the price is $2.99. And yes, the discount codes work; I just got The Black Marble for $1.79.

Thanks for the tip, Kobo is goofy. It didn't help with The Black Marble or The Golden Orange, but the price updated to $2.69 when I clicked on The Blooding and Floaters. With a 45% off code and a dollar off code, I got them for $1.55 and $1.77. I bought The Black Marble and Fugitive Nights from Amazon.

I really don't read his fiction - so many books, so little time - but I went to look especially to see if 'The Blooding' was included, and it was! Happy! It's his classic non-fiction book about the first DNA criminal investigation. Two young girls had been murdered in a town in England and they actually asked every male in the region between certain ages to come in and give blood, so they could do a DNA check. It's fascinating.

I'm not the hugest fan of Wambaugh's books, although I'm okay with several of them. But THIS is the way backlist books should be priced all the time. So, I bought several just to encourage this sort of pricing/behavior.

And, I am rather fond of The Delta Star, since I went to Caltech, and the book has recognizable characters from the late 70's/early 80's in it.

@pendragginp - The Blooding sounds really interesting, and I didn't know about it. Thanks for the tip - I made it one of the ones I bought.
