Kindle Fire won't remeber place in book

When I first open and start reading a book I added from Calibre and return to the main screen, the Kindle will not remember my place. After the first time it remembers just fine. It does not do this on books downloaded from Amazon. I was wondering if there was some setting in Calibre that needs to be changed.

I believe when you sideload a book via Calibre, the file that stores the location hasn't been created until you open and close a book. I've found that I just have to start the new book, go a page or two into it. Close it and then swipe back to where I was. Then it saves it in the future. The reason it doesn't do it with books you download from Amazon is because the page location is actually stored on their servers.

Thanks, that is what I started doing and was wondering if there was anything else could be done. My problem is remembering to do it!

You can open the sideloaded book and then use the big "SYNC" at the top (not the one within the book reading app) before closing the book, and it will remember your place.
