Best way to choose which duplicate to keep?
So like many here I have multiple groups of books that I am wanting to integrate into one calibre library,,
so for conversations sake,, I have 3 copies of Pride and Prejudice Is there an addon or easy way to determine which is the "best quality",, I don't really want to go through all of them manually if I can help it,, there are a LOT of books,,, but obviously want to keep the "best copy" for my library Any help would be appreciated, Thanks, Collin |

Eyeball Mk I is the only way I know. Hopefully you have 2 monitors on your rig (or at least 2 computers), 1 for each Library. This is one of the few time I will say it is OK to peek (carefully) beneath the skirts of calibre. 1) Run Calibre on the Destination Library (#1), 2) Use Explorer to view the second Library (#2). Select a Author/Title that appears in Library #1,right click: Open with 'viewer for all e-book formats' (this is the Calibre viewer from the CLI) 3)'View' (v) the destination Library copy from inside calibre (keep track which viewer is which. they look the same) 4)Do the eyeball thing on both ![]() 5) (close BOTH viewers) If you like #2 better , open the Metadata editor on #1 (the only place full calibre is running ) and drag the Book from #2 to the formats box. (you might want to make a column eyball_tested and put 1, 2 or (the lib #) of the version that you are now using) click OK Repeat 2-5 until Lib 2 is done Open Lib 3 Repeat 2-5 |

Honestly, I just take the most recent effort. I do open that most recent one and do a quick boo through the first bit and see if it is good enough (i.e. no obvious scan issues, no missing half of double Ls, no headers/footers). And if that most recent one is good enough, I'm done. The other TWO P&P MIGHT be better, but good enough is good enough.
