I was in one 2 days ago so cannot vote

more options needed otherwise poll will be biased towards people who rarely go into a bookstore

I still like to browse in bookstores. Sometimes I still like to hold books and I enjoy the smells.

Not sure exactly when, but it was when the Nook Tablet was introduced. I chose 3-6 months on the poll.

Edit: Glad to see that you could only choose 1 thing as opposed to the "Last ereader used" and "Last ebook format read" threads.

Same here. I still frequent bookstores, because even though I primarily read e-books, I like the visual presentations sometimes to put books on my radar, and I love to browse, and write down titles I might be interested in.

Then I log into places like Goodreads or Fantastic Fiction to see what people have to say about the books. Then I either borrow from the library, or if I really badly want the book, put it on my wish/buy list.

It's been at least 2 years since I've been in a regular bookstore. It's been about 2 months since I've been in a used bookstore.

Stopped by the new Books a Million that opened where our Borders was located. Walked through once and have no interest in going back in. Border's was nice to go into, this was like someone took over Borders and made it a dump. Also the lack of free wifi sucked as well.

It's been about a month for me. The books my boys like aren't available as ebooks. I send them over to the kids section and I browse the cookbooks

It's been over a year for me. But that's not solely due to ebooks. The closest quality book-store to me (book store, mind you... not a drug-store that has a chintzy book rack) is 40 miles away.

I won't bore you with the math, but let's just say that using the very generous advertised new-car MPG (highway) of my model car (not to mention low-balling the price of a gallon of gas)... I'm spending close to $12 on a round trip to the book store even if I purchase absolutely nothing. Mail-order and ebooks win. It's not even a contest.

In fairness; if there were a quality book-store (new and/or used) across the street from me... I'd be practically living in it.
