Tolkien versus Nazi Germany
I don't know how long this has been widely disseminated, but it is the first I have seen of it. It is unfortunate that it is not known if the great letter quoted here was sent, or one that avoided the issue entirely. I also found this interesting riffing of off last month's Literary Book Club selection, Remains of the Day.
Tolkien's reply to inquiry by German publisher asking for proof of his Aryan descent. |

I love this. I'm not a fan of Tolkien's oeuvre, but I may have to rethink, based on this entirely awesome letter.
