I emailed ebook from Calibre now it is out of library

I finally got the email service in Calibre set up. So I email a test epub book to a second email address I have. It worked fine.

However, when I went back into Calibre the epub book I email was gone from my Calibre Library was gone!!

Is this how the email is suppose to work. Or is there a setting I should use. I want to send a copy of the epub not my copy.

AFAIK Deleting of your copy only is available for books tagged 'News'
The preference for this is in the Right column in the Behavior preference

I appreciate your quick reply. However, I don't understand your answer. Sorry I'm not too computer savvy. I would really appreciate your being a little more detailed in what I have to do. I can't even find Behavior preference.

the ducks, I have found the Behavior location in Preferences and the "Delete news from library when it is automatically sent to reader" is not checked.

I just want to be able to send a copy of my book to a friend or my Nook with out it disappearing from my Calibre library.

If it is NOT a News item (and that is not ticked anyway), I don't have any idea on why it is being deleted.

Perhaps save the book to disk first so you can readd it easily.

Or copy your library and use the copied library to send books.It is a good thing to backup your library periodicallly anyway.

I send books to my mothers kindle using calibre (registered to me, but shouldn't make a difference) with no deletion from my library so not sure why yours are being deleted.

Do you have a Filter (restrict to in the upper left ) in place and some status get changed so it is now filtered.

I double checked my list and it didn't move to a different location.

Helen, thanks for confirming that my book should stay in my library when I send a book to a friend.

I can email ebooks without using Calibre. But the email function of Calibre is very handy.

Try resorting the books in your list by clicking on the title or authors header and looking again for the book. Or reset the search by clicking the box with a shaded X to the right of the search window (underneath the icons at the top of the page).
