PRS-T1 Sony Reader app doesn't recognize library

The Sony Reader app on my PRS-T1 no longer recognizes books in the sdcard/Sony_Reader/media/books folder.

In addition to side-loading, I tried syncing the Sony Reader for PC software, loading books using Calibre, and downloading a book from Dropbox. I also tried deleting all books from the PRS-T1 and reinstalling just one--to no avail.

Possible causes: At around the same time, I moved several books from internal memory to my SD Card and side-loading two Adobe DRM epub books that I downloaded from the public library. At one point--I don't remember where in the process--the SD card registered a disc error.

Both Calibre and the Sony Reader for PC eventually recognized the books in the internal memory and on the SD card, but ran very slowly. The reader itself (or the content manager) doesn't display anything no matter what I try.

Notes:

• My device is rooted; all my other apps work fine.
• I have been using Morkl's modified homescreen and modified reader, but Morkl's reader/homescreen and running the stock Sony versions makes no difference.

Any suggestions about how to fix the problem will be greatly appreciated.

I've confirmed that the problem is with the reader--I suspect it is a broken file permissions problem that fix_permissions is designed to fix (http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/Fix_permissions; https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=164020). Trouble is I don't know enough about TE, Busybox, or ADB to get the fix_permissions shell working, so I plan to un-root and restore. Much as I like an e-ink mini-tablet-like device, I bought the reader to read, and the Sony Reader app is, afaik, the best reader for the PRS-T1. We'll see what happens.

I'm guessing the problem was an error on the micro sd card. At any rate, after a factory reset we are back in business.
