Red face PRS-T1 deleting books

Just got my reader today and cannot find how to delete books. Can anyone walk me through it step by step? (I'm electronically challenged, LOL)

Thanks!

From the main menu:
  1. Select "Books"
  2. Select and hold down the book you want to delete
  3. Select "Delete"

Must be doing something wrong. I don't even get an option to delete.

You should get an "Options" menu with "Open", "Delete", "Protect", and "Info". You're not just tapping the screen, are you? You need to press and hold down the book for a couple seconds till the options menu appears. It just like holding down a word to get the definition.

Alternatively... from the main menu select "Books" then press the Menu button, then select "Delete Books", select the books you want to delete, select "Done" and "Yes".

Like you, that is the only way I can delete a book. I don't get the other option either.

siameselovr probably understood this, but just to be sure, since it took me some trial and error when I first got my T1

a critical step in AndrewH's instructions above is "from the main menu, select 'books'". Long-pressing doesn't work on books showing on the home page - you have to go into "books" first.

Another possibility:
If you get into "books" and the long press gives you options that don't include "delete" - but do include "Unprotect" - this means the book has been set as Protected to prevent accidental deletion. You would have to Unprotect the book before you could delete it.

Thanks for that information 4691mls. That is where I have been going wrong. Cheers.

Commas save lives (and make instructions much more clear). Thanks, 4691mls.

I feel like I've done nothing but ask questions since I got here - I am glad I was able to help somebody else for a change!
