"Google Books are no longer available via Reader Store"
The 'Google Books' button no longer serves up Google books (I last used it just a few days ago). I will miss that feature, and am perturbed that they have removed it.
Interestingly, I typed 'm.books.google.com' in an attempt to discover if Google Books has a mobile web interface. This was redirected to 'www.barnesandnoble.com'! (I just tried it on my desktop browser: same result.) That's pretty odd... |

EDIT: Nevermind, that URL on my Android phone just takes me to the Market to get the Google Books app. Last edited by AnemicOak; 03-02-2012 at 03:41 PM. |

It appears to be impossible to download anything directly from Google Books. I was able to coerce a mobile interface for the store, but there doesn't appear to be one for My Library and there, I can only get it to open the web viewer (which is not optimized for mobile, to say the least).
I was not using this feature very much but I appreciated its existence. It was very convenient. |

That's so sad! I just tried it from my T1 and you get a message that says "Google Books are no longer available via Reader Store". Then it redirects you to links for books from their store.

That's disappointing. I wonder if the next firmware update will change that button to something else?
Though it's not the end of the world, at least we can still use Google Books via our computers and then transfer the books to our ereaders ala a "regular" ebook retailer. |

There was another recent thread reporting that it is no longer possible to use Gmail from the T1. I guess the T1 is too small a market for Google to care if we can use it.

I can still use gmail with my T1. I just logged in and downloaded a PDF from an email attachment.

It's not a problem of the T1, but rather Google which thinks people all have devices capable of running apps. Nothing's wrong with your mobile webpages, Google, no need to replace them with apps.

In a way I'm glad. I'm not overly fond of their new 'privacy' policies. They're not so.....private.
