Dictionary with Coolreader
Good morning everyone,
Happy new owner of a sony prs t1, I would like install a dictionary FR >> FR, so if I did understand correctly, I must first root the device, and then install a reader like CoolReader then add a dictionary in stardict format. Someone has already done this? the dictionary appears when you touch a word? is it buggy? Thank you! |

You have too root your phone before you can install any app. With the "minimal root" presented in this forum you got also the app colordict. The dictionaries which comes with colordict are every
![]() I never found out how to add annother dictionary... The dictionary-app itself works not every good on the T1 because of the e-ink... |

I suggest you install and use GoldenDict instead of ColorDict - it is much better suited for e-ink. Not perfect, but still, at least possible to use.
It has page up/page down (helps to avoid scrolling on an e-ink device), it allows to define language pairs, such as FR-FR, EN-EN, FR-EN, EN-FR, etc. and to switch to a pair you want. It also allows to jump to a specific dictionary. It supports multiple dictionary formats: - Lingoes .LD2 files - Babylon .BGL files - ABBYY Lingvo .LSD, .DSL, .LSA and .DAT files - StarDict files - Dictd files - Hunspell .AFF/.DIC morphology files I am using version 1.3.0. It has some advantages over version 1.2.1, but also one disadvantage, so I'm not sure, perhaps 1.2.1 is better. So far, neither with ColorDict nor with GoldenDict the morphology stuff is working with the dictionaries I am using, perhaps I need to download and install those morphology files separately. Or to create them. Anyway, without the morphology working, it is often necessary to delete several last letters of the word to get it recognized (the same is with ColorDict). Version 1.3.0 has an "improvement" which causes at least one more tap required (usually I need 2-3 more, for 1 you have to tap with great precision) to delete those last letters, compared to version 1.2.1. Here is the "improvement": "When the word input is activated, all text is selected now" Why would they do that? Well, I guess, with the word endings automatically removed or changed, that makes sense. But bad when they are not. I need to investigate that issue, perhaps it is simple to achieve. I am just surprised that this morphology info is not integrated in the dictionaries, as it is on PocketBook - there, when you generate a dictionary you include the morphology stuff at that stage. You may also want to install the disable/enable refresh apps and put them as shortcuts onto the top bar. Then you can switch the screen refresh off/on in two taps when you are in the dictionary.
