"Removing" in Collection list
I'm not sure if this is a Sony T1 issue or a Calibre issue, but decided I'd ask here first.
I run Windows 7, and just upgraded to Calibre 0.8.41. I have the 'tags' column set to be my collection information. I send my books to the Sony with the {tags}/{title}-{author} template. I'm using "Automatic Management" to keep the metadata in sync with the device. The problem I'm having is having anywhere from one instance to many pages of "removing" in the beginning of many of the Collections. A Collection with only a few books might not show it, but one with many has pages of "removing" at the beginning of the list. It happens on lists on both books from the main memory and the MicroSD card. I've tried rebooting, and I've tried removing the databases on both the main memory and the cards and letting it rebuild, but nothing seems to change. What should I be looking into? |

I had the same issue but it seems to have went away for me. My best guess is I did disable using tags as collections and just started using series but I don't know if that's the fix or not could just be coincidence.
Also I've noticed that if you add books you should disconnect after and then let the device connect to calibre a second time to keep the collections right. |

Um... can you please repeat the issue in English? I just did not understand that at all.

When it opens, there sometimes a few lines, but most of the time pages and pages of lines, that say "Removing". I have to page over sometimes 1-40 pages to find the start of the real list of books in that Collection. This happens both with Collections stored totally in internal memory, or stored on the MicroSD card. |

That is odd. I've never seen that on a T1. My mother & mother-in-law both have a T1. What firmware are you using?

Other info... (In case any of it is helpful) I have 550 mb of 1.41GB left on internal memory I have 6.45GB of 7.39GB left on SD card I have 9490 books and 60 Collections Collections are made from Calibre from the "Tags" column. When sending books to devices, I have Metadate Magement on "Automatic Management". [Edited. I'm trying to add a picture. Haven't ever done that here. Fingers Crossed. If it works notice what page I have to go to to get to the start of the collection. 40 1/2 pages of "Removing"] Last edited by DuskyRose; 02-27-2012 at 04:40 PM. Reason: adding picture, I hope |

Both T1s have the same firmware. Can you tell how many books in a collection it takes for you to start seeing "Removing"? I can test things by just tossing books into a collection to match that number and then look at the last book post in that collection.

I tend to load in bulk, since I have so many I want on there. It's all fanfic on this machine, process from the same places and in the same way (epub or html converted by Calibre.) I've got one Collection with 3 books that has it, and the biggest Collection without it numbers 107. Doesn't seem to matter if it's the internal memory or the Card. Next, before trying to use "Series" instead of "Tags" for my collections (since that's going to take a lot of time to convert even before I start loading the machine.) I'm going to try loading just the SD card full first, and then see if they're okay then. I suspect it's a problem with the database combining the main and SD card lists. If I just do one or the other maybe it'll disappear. I'll let you know. |

I have the same issue also on T1, I guess it's happen with the books that already on T1 and change the metadata on calibre before resync.
to clear the 'removing', I delete the collection contain the 'removing' on T1 and resync with calibre again. If I'm not wrong, need 2 times to resync, the first resync only create empty collection. |

I think I have it... When you go into data transfer mode, is the screen showing the home page or is it showing the picture of a computer connected to the reader?
Before you connect the T1 to the computer, wake it up from sleep mode and hit the home button. Then pug in the USB cable. That will properly put it into data transfer mode when you hit the button. This is a guess, but it could be the problem. |

I was playing about earlier trying to work it out, it was something that bugged me before but eventually went away. I think it happens when you add new books to collections the only solution seems to be to remove every book in the collection and re add them all at once I think it's best to keep all the books on either the SD card or the main memory and not to split them.
One bad side effect is it doesn't remember which books you have already read. On the plus side my playing about today led me to discover how to have Calibre add it's own cover images it never did it for me before but now my booklist is looking quite good. |

Whenever I have issues with collections I do as Teknikal suggests and resync with Calibre again. That usually clears up the issue. I have the opposite problem as you - I have more books in my collection that belong there. I always make sure that all books with the same tags are stored on the same media (internal storage vs sd card).

Right now, I've connected from the home page, but can't reliably say if I've done that every time or not. Yesterday, aded 4,900 books with 15 collections to the SD card only. None of the 15 collections show 'Removing', and some are quite large. I'm getting ready to add another set, with different collections, to just the SD card. That'll take a while.
