aka Donald Westlake.
Classic noir crime fiction author. Many of his books have been republished with different titles. |

Was about to say "who's Richard Stark" ?
Then realised he was Donald Westlake, and I like the Parker series too, but never really took-in the author's name ! As Westlake, didn't he write a heist story involving a mobile home parked outside the bank, or similar ? |

Remember having chuckled through a couple of Donald E Westlake books (Dortmunder), but didn't know about the Parker series.

I'm still working my way through the series, having been a late-comer to Parker after buying a three-book anthology in a discount store a couple of years ago. I am on #16.
I like to save them and use them a "pallett cleansers" after reading something heavy or tiresome. Freshens me right up . |

Stephen King based his character "George Stark" on Westlake's pseudonym in "The Dark Half."

Parker novels
I've loved reading the Parker series. They're much darker than the Westlake Dortmunder books, which are comic crime caper novels.
If you're a Parker fan, the first Parker novel (The Hunter) has been turned into a movie no less than three times: The Hunter (adapted three times, as Point Blank (starring Lee Marvin) in 1967, as Full Contact in 1992, and as Payback (starring Mel Gibson) in 1999). As it happens, I just watched Payback on TV a couple of days ago-- it's a really good adaptation. If you've seen any of those movies & enjoyed them, you should check out the novels! KentE |

Wasn't he that father of Tony Stark, aka Iron Man.
