High hopes for the next firmware update

I have high hopes for the next Vox firmware update and hope it'll be rolled out soon. In spite of running on the relatively advanced Android OS, the Vox is still some way behind the iOS app as we all know. It would really benefit from:

*Facebook timeline support
*A more intuitive dictionary lookup system
*Faces and Places support
*A wider selection of virtual shelf and bookmark options
*Broader RL stat support (for example, times of day)
*A broader selection of awards (quite a few of the existing ones are still iOS only)

The Vox even lacks a feature which would appear to be pretty basic feature for an ereader, one which has already been added to the barebones Touch: a 'search within book' function.
I really cannot see why there shouldn't a rough feature parity between the Vox and the iOS apps - and I say that as someone with both an iPhone and an iPad.

I tried the app on my wife's iPhone 4S and was surprised at the high feature level. I guess they know the expectations are high on iOS.

Perhaps, but that's no reason not to properly support the Vox.

for me I would like to see some improvements in the Library, search for books and a way to separate read from unread ones

most features do seem to go to iOS first, have tried them out and they are good, the only thing I hope they dont bring to the Vox is the poor way it stores books on iOS, it is forever deleting them on it's own and asking to re download them, according to Kobo this is due to lack of storage (12 GB cannot hold more than 20 or so books?, when my kindle app has 100's stored in it)

your list does look good, add them features and it would be a good improvement (need to look more into awards, not checked them for quite a while)

Good points Paul. I don't think, though, that searching for and categorising books has even made it onto iOS yet - as handy those functions would be.

for me I would be happier with just a basic improvement here

currently in library we have All, Previews & Books

add another couple here for Read & Unread, I have my list in bookshelf mode so don't see what I have already read (list mode shows this but I keep accidentally opening books when scrolling )

searching and categorising on top of these would be an added bonus

hopefully there will be an update soon, seem to remember last year it wasnt to long after iOS was updated that Vox got some of it

Ah, and there's the rub: 'some of it'. Why not all of it?

very good question, not sure

just guessing, but perhaps the apps on the Vox are embedded into the OS, so more changes are required to the features added

From what I have read, the standard Android app has the least features (might try this on Vox someday, see what its like)

What I want most of all is the ability to put the text alignment to "justified". It doesn't kill it for me, but the jagged look is annoying.

I also use Aldiko and Kindle reader on my Vox and at least one of them allows full justification of text (can't remember which one at the moment). Frankly, unless you like reading small print, about like in paperback, justifying the text just makes it harder to read for me. I prefer equal spacing, not crowding and stretching to justify both margins. Do you find the unjustified text in this forum annoying?

Android and iOS 'speak' different languages and have different 'cultural references'. So it takes a lot of effort to do a translation. (Of course programmers describe these things in different ways.)

So it will take some time for all of the iOS features to trickle over.
