New here: Not happy with Calibre search. How to improve?

Hi!

I have the most recent vers of Calibre on a windows machine.

I also have almost a 1000 books/pdfs/magazines.

I find the search method pretty lousy.

I figured out if you have MULTIPLE hits on a search, calibre does not combine them. It highlights them in green and you must scroll thru to locate...possibly missing some...

Is there any way to improve the search method on calibre - or an improved plugin?

There's a button with those at the end of the long search box. It's the button with three blue lines and a pink slash. Click that. It will switch it from search highlighting to the mode that only lists the search results.

Moved to the Calibre forum, where it's pretty blooming obvious (I would have personally thought) Calibre questions belong.

I am using v1.17 and this has started happening to me where the results are highlighted in green (I must have hit something by mistake!) but the button with three blue lines and a pink slash is not where it usually was and I haven't a clue how to get it back to how it used to be!

I restored default settings for search and it's done the trick, but I still can't see the button with three blue lines and a pink slash.

"Remove the button to toggle search result highlighting from next to the search bar, as too many people click it accidentally and then do not realize what they have done, despite the confirmation message that pops up. The button can be restored via Preferences->Searching."
