Current state of Kindle firmware - worth upgrading to 3.3?
Been running 3.1 on the Kindle Keyboard for a long time now with the jailbreak, screensaver hack and whatnot.

The 3.3 upgrade was released a while ago - are there any tangible improvements over the older versions? Any new features? Better/faster rendering?

Usually a good idea to upgrade. I did and I'm not aware of any downside using 3.3 The 3.3 extra features can be seen at the Amazon K3 keyboard update website;

The Kindle Personal Cloud feature that 3.3 gives you makes it worth upgrading with just that alone and fixed battery issues. Since the upgrade my battery lasts twice as long as it use to.

Bumping this, still interested in updating. Do you need to remove the screensaver/jailbreaks first when going from 3.1 or 3.3 or can I just update and the hacks will still work?

Ended up uninistalling all my hacks and the jailbreak (in that order), updating from 3.1 to 3.3 and then installing the new jailbreak and new versions of the hacks.

This procedure is a bit lengthy, but it works!
